The body is a unique vessel through which a character explores what it means to be alive. Writing about the body and the sensual requires delicate attention to detail and careful language selection. When done rightly, it can reveal a character’s personality and enrich a story’s plot. But when botched, it can come across as cheesy and ruin the experience for the reader. In this masterclass, Diriye Osman, author of the Polari Prize-winning collection of stories, Fairytales for Lost Children, and the critically-acclaimed collection of interlinked stories, The Butterfly Jungle, will teach you the intricacies of writing about the body and the sensual. The masterclass will cover the elements needed for writing sensual scenes and how to effectively use bodies in acts of intimacy to advance a story’s plot.
