Whether pointing at people, society, or the powers that be, there has to be a balance between ridicule and reflection. As a literary device, satire is a type of socio-political commentary used as entertainment and a call to action. In this masterclass, the award-winning satirist and author of the critically acclaimed satire collection Be(com)ing Nigerian: A Guide will provide you with the literary devices needed to write effective satire. The masterclass will cover the key elements of satire, showing you how to maintain that balance between humour and introspection. The class will also delve into the different types of satire and how to employ them in your day-to-day writing.
