There is no one way of telling a story, but there are basic elements to each of the stories that we write. For every good story, the writer works to create both an interesting plot and memorable, three-dimensional characters. This four-week class is designed to elevate your storytelling by guiding you through plot, subplot and characterisation. These are the most important elements and are integral to any story. For the duration of the course, you’ll learn how to move the different parts of a story to achieve your goal of crafting a good story. Whether you’re a beginner or an advanced writer, this class is your chance to learn from Zukiswa Wanner, the award winning author of the novels The Madams, Behind Every Successful Man, Men of the South and London Cape Town Joburg.
For the class, each writer will get a chance to get comments from the other writers within the workshop and to have one-to-one consultation sessions with the tutor. The feedback will help shape the stories with the goal of giving the writer a better understanding of these basic elements of storytelling.
